For 95 years, Dasaprakash™ has been India's favourite for Authentic South Indian Vegetarian Cuisine. Dasaprakash™ has been in the catering and hospitality industry since 1921. The founder Late Shri K. Seetharama Rao expanded in South India with many Dasaprakash™ restaurants and hotels in Chennai, Mysore, Banagalore, Ooty and many other places.

Well-known hotelier and the Director of Dasaprakash Group, Late K. Balakrishna Rao (1935-2013), the eldest son of K. Seetharama Rao and Kamalabai, was a forerunner in the hospitality industry. Dasaprakash in Hotel Ambassador New Delhi in 1979 (Taj Vivanta, currently), AVM Dasa in Chennai, many Dasaprakash restaurants across India and the company Dasaprakash Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlour (P) Ltd in 2001, were his creations.

He was President of the Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India for 3 terms, President of South Indian Hotels and Restaurants Association of India for 10 years, and also member of the Madras Cricket Club and Madras Race Club. Over the years, under the company Dasaprakash Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlour (P) Ltd, Dasaprakash™ has won many awards & accolades in recognition for its cuisine, service and hospitality.


Historically, Dasaprakash™ has had the honour of hosting various parties to many dignitaries like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Mr. Moraji Desai, Maharaja of Mysore, Maharaja of Trvancore, Dr. V. V. Giri, Prof John Galbraith, Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy and various politicians and dignitaries.


In 1979, Dasaprakash™ came to North India, with Mr. K. Balakrishna Rao (son of Late Shri K. Seethrama Rao) opening the first restaurant in New Delhi at the Ambassador Hotel (Now Part of Taj Vivanta). The restaurant was a roaring success.


In 2001, Dasaprakash Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlour (P) Ltd was formed, which has taken the Dasaprakash™ legacy forward under the vision of our Group Managing Director, Mr. Aditya Raman.

In 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 Dasaprakash™ has continuously won the "Best South Indian" by Times Food Award in the Stand Alone Restaurant category. In 2015 it also won the Zee TV Food Award. In 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 it has also won the TripAdvisor AWARD OF EXCELLENCE. In 2010, it also won the CNBC Burp Food Award.
